PROJECT
🚀
What Makes a Project Stand Out
Live URL — beats a GitHub repo 10×. Deploy for free on Render or Railway.
Solves a real problem — not a todo app. Pick something you'd actually use.
Uses an API or AI — shows you can integrate external services.
Clean README with screenshots + setup instructions.
Commit history — shows consistent work, not a one-day dump.
❌ Don't list 10 projects — 2 strong > 8 weak.
REFERRALS
🤝
Getting Referrals That Work
1. Find: Search LinkedIn for alumni at target company in your city.
2. Connect: Send a note — "Hey [name], I'm a CS student at [college]…"
3. Share your project link + resume in the message — make it easy for them.
4. Ask specifically: "Would you be open to referring me for [role]?"
5. Follow up once in 7 days if no reply — then move on.
📌 Referrals bypass ATS — this is the highest ROI action you can take.

Interview Strategy

What actually matters in each round — and how to prepare for it.

Round 1 — Online Assessment (OA)
2–3 DSA problems in 60–90 minutes
Arrays / Strings Hashing / Two Pointer Binary Search Greedy basics Basic DP
Tip: Read all problems first. Start with the easiest. Get partial marks by passing some test cases. OA platforms: HackerRank, HackerEarth, Unstop, CodeSignal.
Round 2 — Technical Interview I
DSA + CS Fundamentals (45–60 min)
1–2 coding problems Explain your approach Dry run example Time & space complexity OOP / OS / DBMS questions
Tip: Think out loud. Interviewers want to see your thinking process, not just the answer. Ask clarifying questions before coding.
Round 3 — Technical Interview II
Project Deep Dive + System Design (30–45 min)
Walk through your project Why did you pick this tech? What would you improve? Basic LLD question
Tip: Know your project inside out. Be ready for "Why not X?" — have reasons for every tech choice. LLD: Parking lot, Library system, Notification system.
Round 4 — HR Round
Behavioral + Culture Fit (20–30 min)
STAR method answers Tell me about yourself Why this company? Questions for them
Tip: Prepare 3 STAR stories (challenge, teamwork, failure). Research the company for 10 mins before the interview. Always have 2 smart questions ready to ask.
